There there there…tender loving ‘patientising’, wrap-around care—for the rest of your life? Really? Catch a grip!

I don’t doubt that among chaotic drug users—addicts (a precise, un-pc, ‘everybody knows what we’re talking about’ word)—there are those who require ‘patientising’ for some form of real mental illness; however, ‘treatment’ advocates’ pronouncement that there is no one-size-fits-all form of this contradicts ‘patientising’ all problematic drug users.

In my view, many who reach out for support (and not all do, but ‘reign themselves in’ on their own—-the so-called ‘natural recoverers’) essentially require that support for gaining or re-gaining self-efficacy towards resolving the problems in their lives which led to them turning to chaotic drug use in the first place.

While at the same time, any such support will not ‘magic’ away the problems of a passive client—they have work to do as well; in a contract between support and client; each party ‘doing their bit’ towards the client’s better future. That’s ‘treatment’ 101 by the way.

Catch a Grip: support services and clients (not ‘patients) contract to work together towards clients’ better futures; it can’t work any other way.
